Our Short Answer

Between Kabrita and Enfamil, we chose Kabrita for the following reasons:

1. Goat milk protein is easier to digest.

2. It does not contain palm olein or soy oil like Enfamil.

3. It adds high sn-2 palmitic acid and beta-palmitic acid, two fat sources very similar to breast milk.

Enfamil Neuropro is a quality formula, but the fact that it has non-organic palm olein is reason enough to put it in second place.

That said, Neuropro is cheaper and more readily available in the US.

Kabrita Reputation

Kabrita holds a strong reputation for providing high-quality goat milk-based baby formulas.

Their products are manufactured under strict European infant certification, ensuring the highest possible safety and quality standards.

Kabrita’s commitment to using 100% natural, premium Dutch goat milk and no pesticides, herbicides, or chemicals in the manufacturing process sets it apart from many competitors in the baby formula market.

Parents can trust Kabrita to provide their little ones with a gentle and nutritious alternative to cow’s milk formula, as this brand is specifically designed to be easy on sensitive digestive systems.

The mild taste and fresh smell of Kabrita’s formula make it a favorite among families seeking an easily digestible option for their babies.

Furthermore, Kabrita incorporates essential nutrients such as Beta-palmitic acid (found naturally in human milk) into its formulas to support healthy growth and development.

Enfamil Reputation

Enfamil has become one of the most trusted and popular baby formula brands worldwide thanks to its evidence-based approach to infant nutrition.

With expert-recommended DHA levels for brain-building support and an exclusive blend of prebiotics for immune support (HuMO6 immune blend), Enfamil provides parents with the peace of mind that they are choosing a top-tier product backed by science.

Enfamil takes pride in being both pediatrician-recommended and parent-approved with their commitment to creating high-quality products that promote healthy baby growth and development.

Their NeuroPro line of products showcases Enfamil’s dedication to incorporating advanced scientific findings related to infant nutrition.

In addition to being a well-established brand since 1959, Enfamil consistently demonstrates its trustworthiness by partnering with healthcare professionals worldwide with extensive product research and development efforts.

As a result, many parents confidently turn to Enfamil, knowing they are providing their babies with nutritional support from a reputable brand backed by proven science.

Nutritional Composition

Kabrita: Goat milk-based formula with A2 protein (easier to digest). Carbohydrates from lactose and GOS prebiotics. Fats from vegetable oils, DHA-rich fish oil.

Enfamil: Cow’s milk-based formula with A1 protein. Carbohydrates from lactose, GOS, and polydextrose prebiotics. Fats from vegetable oils, ARA and DHA oils. Contains palm olein and soy oil.

Kabrita wins in protein (easier to digest) and fat (no palm or soy oil) content. Technical tie in carbohydrate content.

Protein Content

Kabrita: Kabrita’s formula is based on goat milk, which provides a natural source of A2 protein. This type of protein is easier to digest and absorb than common cow’s milk A1 protein. For every 100 ml of Kabrita Stage 1 formula, there are 1.3g of total protein, consisting of 0.84g whey protein and 0.5g casein protein.

Enfamil: Enfamil uses nonfat cow’s milk as its primary source of protein in its NeuroPro baby formula. Although cow’s milk proteins are commonly used in infant formulas, they might not be as easily digestible for some babies as goat milk proteins found in Kabrita’s products. In every 100 ml serving of Enfamil NeuroPro Formula Powder, there are approximately 1.5g of total protein.

The fundamental difference is the type of protein. Generally, goat milk protein is easier to digest, saving your baby many digestive problems.

In addition, 1.5 grams of protein per 100 ml is quite a high amount, considering that breast milk has, on average, between 0.8 and 1g per 100.

These facts make Kabrita a winner in this respect.

Carbohydrate Content

Kabrita: Carbohydrates mainly come from lactose (6.9g/100ml) in Kabrita’s goat milk-based formula. Additionally, this brand incorporates galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) (0.39g/100g), which act as prebiotics that promote healthy gut flora for babies.

Enfamil: Like Kabrita, the primary source of carbohydrates in Enfamil NeuroPro is lactose (7g/100ml). This infant formula also contains galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) and polydextrose as added prebiotic ingredients, which contribute to supporting a healthy gut microbiome for your baby.

Both formulas use lactose as their only source of sugars, which is just what we want to see, since it is the same as breast milk.

Technical tie.

Fats and Oils

Kabrita: The fats in Kabrita’s formula come from a blend of vegetable oils (coconut oil, rapeseed oil, sunflower oil), high sn-2 palmitic acid oil (which improves mineral balance), as well as docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) rich oil derived from fish.

Enfamil: Enfamil’s NeuroPro formula contains a mix of vegetable oils (palm olein, coconut, soy, and high oleic sunflower oils) that supply important fatty acids for your baby. Enfamil also includes Mortierella Alpina Oil as a source of arachidonic acid (ARA), Schizochytrium Sp. Oil as a source of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and whey protein-lipid concentrate for additional milk fat globule membrane nutrients that contribute to brain-building nutrition.

In terms of fat, Kabrita wins by far.

First, it has no palm or soy oil, like Enfamil.

Secondly, it adds high sn-2 palmitic acid and beta-palmitic acid, two fat sources similar to breast milk.

We do not like to see palm olein and soy oil in Enfamil Neuropro, as there are other more nutritious, less allergenic, and controversial options.

Probiotics and Prebiotics

Kabrita: Contains GOS prebiotics for gut health but no added probiotics.

Enfamil: Includes GOS and polydextrose prebiotics for gut health—no direct probiotic additions.

Kabrita: Kabrita’s goat milk-based baby formula includes galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) as prebiotics. These compounds support the growth of beneficial bacteria in the baby’s gut, mimicking some of the benefits of human breast milk. However, Kabrita’s formula does not contain any added probiotics.

Enfamil: Enfamil NeuroPro contains both prebiotic and probiotic ingredients. Like Kabrita, it includes galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS), fostering a healthy gut environment for beneficial bacteria to thrive. Moreover, Enfamil NeuroPro contains polydextrose as an additional prebiotic component that promotes digestive health. Enfamil NeuroPro does not include any direct probiotic additions in its formula.

Cost and availability

Kabrita: In terms of cost per ounce, Kabrita is priced at around $2 per ounce. However, this may vary depending on where you purchase it from. While Kabrita might not have as broad of a retail presence compared to more common cow milk-based formulas like Enfamil NeuroPro in the United States, it is usually available online, where parents can conveniently find various sizes and product options.

Enfamil: On the other hand, Enfamil NeuroPro costs roughly $1.66 per ounce, making it a slightly more affordable option than Kabrita. This infant formula is widely available in the United States, meaning parents can easily find it at major retail stores, pharmacies, or supermarkets.
