Our Short Answer

After analyzing both baby formulas, it is clear that they are among the best in the United States.

If we had to choose one of the two, we would opt for Earth’s Best for the following two reasons:

1. It has the USDA organic seal. We believe that in the world of nutrition (and more so in infant nutrition), the origin of food is a fundamental factor.

2. It has a whey-to-casein ratio closer to breast milk, with more whey protein, which is easier to digest.

The only reason to choose Similac Pure Bliss would be that it does not use palm oil (Earth’s Best uses it but is organic, natural, and unprocessed).

Overview of the Two Formulas

Similac Pure Bliss and Earth’s Best are gentle, breast milk-modeled formulas.

Similac uses grass-fed cow’s milk, minus artificial hormones or palm olein oil, and includes DHA and ARA.

Earth’s Best is USDA Organic, non-GMO, with lutein, prebiotics, and DHA & ARA for holistic baby development.

Similac Pure Bliss

Similac Pure Bliss is a baby formula designed to be gentle on your baby’s tummy and easy to digest.

It’s modeled after breast milk to provide nutrition as close as possible to a mother’s natural milk.

This formula is made without artificial growth hormones, antibiotics, or palm olein oil, ensuring a pure and healthy meal for your baby.

The formula begins with fresh milk from grass-fed cows, sourced from family-owned Irish farms, which adds to its high nutritional value.

It contains DHA and ARA, vital nutrients that support brain and eye development.

This formula is also gluten-free, kosher, and halal, making it suitable for various dietary needs.

Earth’s Best

Earth’s Best is another high-quality baby formula that offers many benefits to your little one.

It is an all-lactose formulation, making it close to breast milk, and doesn’t contain any added corn syrup solids.

Earth’s Best formula is USDA Organic certified and kosher, meaning it is free from artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, growth hormones, antibiotics, steroids, or potentially harmful pesticides/herbicides.

This baby formula is enriched with DHA & ARA, nutrients naturally found in breast milk that are crucial for your baby’s brain and eye development.

It also contains lutein for eye health and prebiotics for immune system support.

Like Similac Pure Bliss, Earth’s Best uses milk from grass-fed cows, but this formula is also non-GMO certified.

Nutritional Composition

Similac Pure Bliss and Earth’s Best have similar protein sources from nonfat milk and whey concentrate.

Earth’s Best uses organic milk and has a closer whey-to-casein ratio to breast milk.

Both formulas utilize lactose as the carbohydrate source.

Fat content is comparable; Earth’s Best uses organic oils, including palm oil, while Similac Pure Bliss uses high-oleic sunflower and coconut oil.

Protein Content

In Similac Pure Bliss, each serving contains 2.07 grams of protein. The primary source of this protein is nonfat milk and whey protein concentrate, derived from the milk of grass-fed cows.

Earth’s Best provides slightly more protein, with 2.2 grams per serving. The protein in this formula also comes from nonfat milk and whey protein concentrate, offering a highly digestible form of protein that is gentle on your baby’s developing digestive system.

Both formulas use the same types of protein: skimmed milk and whey protein concentrate, the standard for ordinary formulas.

However, there are a couple of important differences:

1. Earth’s Best uses organic milk, which, in our opinion, is an essential factor to consider, even more so if we are talking about infant nutrition.

2. The whey-to-casein ratio is different in both formulas. Pure Bliss has a 48:52 and Earth’s Best a 70:30. Mature breastmilk has a ratio of 60:40, which makes Earth’s Best a closer formula to breast milk.

Carbohydrate Content

In Similac Pure Bliss, the carbohydrate content is 10.7 grams per serving, with the main sources being nonfat milk and lactose. Lactose is the natural sugar in milk and is usually easy for babies to digest.

Earth’s Best has a similar carbohydrate content, with 10.6 grams per serving. The primary carbohydrate source in this formula is organic lactose.

Both formulas use the same type of carbohydrate: lactose. This is exactly what we want to see in conventional formulas.

No traces of starches, maltodextrin, or corn syrup solids, which are other types of carbs used preferably in formulas with reduced lactose content.

The only difference between both is the fact that Earth’s Best uses organic lactose and Pure Bliss does not.

Fats and Oils

Similac Pure Bliss contains 5.6 grams of fat per serving. The fat in this formula comes from high oleic sunflower oil, soy oil, and coconut oil. These oils are high in healthy fats and are easily digestible for your little one.

Earth’s Best contains 5.3 grams of fat per serving. The fat sources in this formula include organic palm oil, organic soy, organic coconut, and organic high-oleic safflower or sunflower oil. These organic oils provide essential fats and support overall health and well-being.

Let’s look at two main differences in fat content between Similac Pure Bliss and Earth’s Best:

  1. Earth’s Best uses natural oils from organic sources. This means they don’t use oils that are changed or cleaned up in big factories, which is excellent.

  2. Earth’s Best has Palm Oil, but Similac Pure Bliss doesn’t.

Some studies have linked Palm Oil with problems in calcium absorption. But, if the Palm Oil is grown naturally and only a little bit is used, it’s considered okay.

We believe both baby formulas are equally good regarding their fat content.

Probiotics and Prebiotics

Similac Pure Bliss and Earth’s Best use prebiotics – galactooligosaccharides and fructooligosaccharides, respectively – for gut health.

Neither formula includes probiotics, making them equally balanced in promoting digestive wellness.

Probiotics and prebiotics are beneficial for your baby’s gut health.

Probiotics are “good” bacteria that help digest food and fight off “bad” bacteria, while prebiotics feed the good bacteria.

Similac Pure Bliss features galactooligosaccharides, a prebiotic that helps to foster beneficial gut bacteria. However, this formula does not contain any probiotics.

Earth’s Best formula includes fructooligosaccharides, another prebiotic that supports a healthy digestive system. Similar to Similac Pure Bliss, Earth’s Best does not contain probiotics.

It is a draw since both prebiotics are highly beneficial for babies.
